Morgan Hume Obituar
The Madison Chronicle, July 2, 1857
In Fairfield township, on Friday last, MORGAN HUME, son of GEORGE HUME,
aged 18 years. The deceased came to his death in the following manner. On the
morning of his death he took his gun for the purpose of going out a hunting,
but before leaving the house, and in order to ascertain whether the gun was
loaded or not, he placed the muzzle of it to his mouth, and pushed the hammer
back with his foot which slipped, and the contents discharged in his mouth. The
ball came out at the back of his head, killing him instantly.
