Biography of Robert Woodhouse

From Madison Democrat 50th Anniversary
Published by the Madison Democrat, 1908

Robert Woodhouse

Is a naitve of Madison county and has the distinction of having been born in a log cabin which stood near the South Charleston pike in Paint township, and adjacent to where his parent still lives.

Mr. Woodhouse stuck to the farm till he reached his majority, but the desire for a wider field of work lured him away. Desiring a mercantile life, he fitted himself by a course in the Nelson Business College and then became an accountant in the store of John Riley, afterwards Foster Beery's. From this to the management of Shough Bros.' feed store was his next undertaking. An ardent Republican, and interested in politics, he, in 1904, accepted of his party the nomination to the office of recorder. He was duly elected, and in the discharge of the duties of the office, has demonstrated his entire fitness and competency for this most important office. So well satisfied indeed has he been to all the people, that his renomination followed as a matter of course and his re-election by an increased vote will no doubt follow.

Mr. Woodhouse is careful and correct in all of his work and he has justly won the confidence and esteem which he holds in the community.
