Biography of John R. Tanner

John R. Tanner is a native of Madison county, where he was born in 1874, but his father's farm being in both Madison and Pickaway, and the dwelling in the latter, he lived there until he ws twenty years old, but has ever since resided in Madison.
His early education was obtained in the public schools. He entered Ohio University, taking the law course, and graduating in 1900, with the degree of Bachelor of Laws, and was duly admitted to the Bar. He located in Mt. Sterling and began practice. An ardent Republican and a worker in the ranks, his party in 1905, nominated him for the office of Judge of Probate, and he was duly elected. His administration of the duties of this important position has been marked by fidelity, ability and thorough satisfaction to all the voters. So much indeed was he appreciated that his renomination took place at the convention in March, and his election is assured.
Judge Tanner had attained a wide and successful practice, and is regarded highly as lawyer and judge. He is married and resides in London with his wife and three children. He is prominent in fraternal orders, is a Mason, Odd Fellow and K. P. His interest in the affairs of the county is always keen and his standing as citizen very high.
