Biography of Joseph Rowan
My ancestor, Joseph Rowan, born 1770-1780 Waterford Twp., Gloucester Co., N.J., was killed at age 55, in a barn raising accident in Stokes Twp.,
Madison Co., Ohio. He was a son of Alexander Rowen and wife, Abigail Hillman, who died in Harrison Co., W. Va. Joseph Rowen and wife,
Rachel Clemons' daughter, Catherine Pierce Rowen, "Kitty", married Elihu Hunt, on 18 December 1828 at So Solon, Madison Co., Ohio. Elihu
lived in Jefferson Twp., Fayette Co., Ohio, son of Stephanus (Stephen) Hunt and wife, Elizaabeth Coffin, who moved to Ohio from North Carolina
in 1806. Elihu was born 17 February 1808 in Highland Co., Ohio. Joseph Rowan's widow, Rachel Clemons, married 2nd,.....McCurdy. She
was a daughter of John Clemons and Mary Burris who were living in Jefferson Twp., Fayette Co., Ohio, in 1820,1830.
