Samuel P. McCollum
From Madison Democrat 50th Anniversary
Published by the Madison Democrat, 1908
Samuel P. McCollum, the present efficient Clerk of the Courts, is a native of Champaign county, but came to Madison county early in life, and for awhile lived in Jefferson township, but later located in Canaan. His education was obtained in the London high school. He has been honored with other positions of trust, having served as Justice of the Peace in Canaan township. He has always been an ardent Republican and a hard worker in the ranks of the party. In 1905, he was chosen as a fit and proper man to fill the position he now holds. His election followed, and his administration of the duties of his office have been eminently satisfactory to all parties, so much so that in March he was renominated for the place, and his election is a foregone conclusion. Mr. McCollum is popular with all who know him; he has the esteem of those with whom he daily does business, and is in all respects a thorough, painstaking official. Mr. McCollum is a prominent Mason, and regarded very highly as a citizen.
