A. C. McDOWELL, telegrapher, Plain City, was born in Delaware County, Ohio, May 25, 1844. He is a son of Theodore and Elithia (Sharp) McDowell, natives of Vermont, the former of French and the latter of German descent. Our subject received a common-school education, and since twenty-one years of age, has been a telegraph operator. He worked on the Pan-Handle Railroad two years, and has held the position in Plain City seventeen years. In the late war, he enlisted in Company C, One Hundred and Seventy-sixth Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Capt. Robb, and participated in several engagements, but was on detached duty part of the time. On February 21, 1875, he married Eoline G. Smith, of Wayne County, Ind. by whom he has two children – Grace F. and Helen G. Mr. McDowell is a member of the
Grand Army, and owns a neat and substantial residence where he now resides.
