Biography of George D. Jones
From Madison Democrat 50th Anniversary
Published by the Madison Democrat, 1908
Is a native of the county and now a prominent attorney of Columbus. Lived on the farm till 17, taught school, and studied law with Messrs. Harrison & Olds of Columbus. Has been in practice since 1880, in Columbus and all surrounding counties. Served as City Solicitor, President of Council, member of Board of Public Service. Mr. Jones is a Bryan Democrat out and out, believes in municipal ownership, the initiative and referendum and home rule for municipalities, is opposed to imperialism, tariff, the national bank and all forms of trusts. mr. Jones is a busy lawyer, his practice being in all the state and federal courts, bu the has time for politics. Yet the demands of his profession compel him to refuse offices of honor and trust continually offered him by his party.
