Biography of C. E. Gain, M.D.
From Madison Democrat 50th Anniversary
Published by the Madison Democrat, 1908
Doctor Gain is a native of the county, born, raised and educated right here. Leaving the public schools he entered the Ohio State University, from which he graduated in 1889.

Deciding upon the medical profession as a life calling, he at once entered Starling Medical College, and graduated in 1891, with the degree of Doctor of Medicine. The same year he began practice here in London, and here he has ever since continued, building up a wide practice and gaining a reputation for painstaking care as a physician and skill as a surgeon.
Doctor Gain is a member of the county and State Medical societies, and examiner for a number of life insurance companies and member of the Board of Elections for Madison county. He enjoys the confidence of the profession, the esteem of friends, and is popular with all who know him.
