From Madison Democrat 50th Anniversary
Published by the Madison Democrat, 1908
Frank S. Carpenter is engaged in the general pracitce of law in Mt. Sterling, having opened an office in the Zahn Block on the first of February this year. His practice is steadily increasing and has been very encouraging from the start.
Born and raised on a farm at Carpenter, Meigs county, O., attended the public schools, taught school, and assisted in farming and stock raising. His father, Hon. J. L. Carpenter, has for many years been prominent in politics and agricultural affairs, representing his district and county in the Legislature for five terms — three in the Senate and two in the House of Representatives — and being for some years a member of the State Board of Agriculture.
Frank attended the Ohio State University for five years, entering the Literary department in 1901 and the College of Law in 1903 from which he graduated. He passed the first bar examination thereafter and entered the law office of Daugherty & Todd of Columbus, starting his legal career under the guidance of these well-known attorneys. This association continuing for more than a year.
He is a Republican. While in college he belonged to the Delta Chi Legal fraternity and is now a member of Talmadge Lodge No. 194 Knights of Pythias. Mr. Carpenter is already popular in Mt. Sterling. He has appeared frequently in the courts here, and with credit to himself.
