Biography of Hon. James W. Bowers
From Madison Democrat 50th Anniversary
Published by the Madison Democrat, 1908
James W. Bowers is a native of the county and was born in Darby township, brought up on the farm, and educated in the public schools.
He has always engaged in farming, but has found time to take an interest in the affairs of the county. An ardent Republican and a hard-worker in the ranks, he was in 1905 elected county commissioner. His efficient and business-like work as a member of the Board is not only appreciated by the citizens, but recognized by his party, and he was honored at the county convention by a renomination. There is no doubt of his election, for he has shown himself the right man in the right place. Mr. Bowers has served as township trustee, is a director of the Plain City Home Savings Co., prominent as Mason, Odd Fellow and K. P. He resides in Plain City, but carries on farming as a business. He is popular with all parties, and stands high as a citizen and man of business.
