This firm commenced business two years ago in the Toland block, next to the Big Four railroad. Their business consists of Hot Water, Steam and Warm Air heating, Gas fitting, Gas stoves, Gas fixtures and also Acetelene gas plants, supplies, plumbing and sewer work, including the famous Kewanee system for country homes. Hot air pumping engines, tin, galvanized iron and copper work, and galvanized iron cornices, galvanized iron sky lights, steel ceilings.
They have the latest improved machinery for the manufacturing of metal work.
This firm does the heating, plumbing and roofing work on the best buildings in the county. They had the contract for this residence, also contracts for the Mrs. Lucy Beach residence, John Vent, E. E. Cole, R. W. Boyd, Mrs. Clint Morse, Myron Silvers and the High School building.
The firm consists of M. M. Thomas and M. B. Armstrong, the former a native of Madison county, who was in the hardware and plumbing business here 25 years. Served two terms as county auditor, elected on the Democratic ticket, also served as member of Board of Public Affairs. M. B. Armstrong learned the business of plumbing in Columbus. For 14 years he was with Mr. Thomas as manager of the plumbing and roofing departments. Two years ago the partnership was formed. It is seen at once these gentlemen are well-equipped for the business in hand. They do work all over this and other counties. Their plumbing embraces every late, popular and scientific method. The most approved systems and devices for securing perfect sanitation are used by them. Their hot air heating plants are in dozens of elegant homes, and attest the merit of the plan as well-skilled workmanship of Thomas & Armstrong.
